Banana, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Granola

Banana and peanut butter is the perfect marriage right? And how can you improve a perfect marriage? If I was the real macho latino now, the answer would be – “with bitches”. But as I am a nice guy, the answer is simply – “with chocolate”.
When you already have banana and peanut butter, you’re just missing the chocolate. The Ben & Jerry’s dudes almost had the most brilliant ideia, but they decided to replace the peanut butter with walnuts, when they came up with the Cunky Monkey. Such a dick heads. They could have created the best ice cream ever made, but they ended up with one just insanly good.
In this granola, however, nothing was left behind. And, on the top of that, it’s gluten free, sugar free and oil free. It’s a granola that clearly tastes like granola.

Chocolate and Hazelnut Brownie

It is very important to state two things:

This recipe will not have exactly the same result as a tradicional brownie recipe;
This recipe doesn’t taste, NOT EVEN A LITTLE, like beans;
The big secret for this recipe are actually the beans. They’re what will give structure to the cake. But don’t worry, you won’t even notice it. Besides the neutral flavor, it will give an awesome nutritional profile to this recipe. Loads of protein, for the people worried about it.

The main goal with this recipe, just like all the others I bring to you here on the blog, is the remaking of a traditional recipe in a healthier way.

I could be making a 100% vegetarian brownie loaded with margerine, coconut oil and melted chocolate. That would be easy. More than easy, I know that would bring me more readers, because that’s exactly what everybody likes to eat. But when I started The Real Green Scene, I started it with a goal. More than a goal, a mission – to show the world that healthy food doesn’t have to be boring or tasteless!

Oatmeal

I don’t remember the first time I tried oatmeal, not even how did I cook it, but I remember I didn’t like it. It had a weird consistency, lack of taste and a sickening feel in the mouth.

It’s from very young that one twists the cucumber, as they say in Portugal. I already know that I have know ideia where does this quote comes from, but the point is that it would have been much easier for me if someone taught me how to enjoy oatmeal when I was still a kid.

I also don’t remember when I started enjoying oatmeal, but I’m pretty sure it required some power of will. I remember making myself eat a lot of stuff that I didn’t really enjoy in favor of my wellness (both physically and mentally). Abandoning the guy on the left and becoming the guy on the right on only one year demanded a lot of self sacrifice. Specially for a lazy dude that never took part in any sport in his life.

Nowadays I’m such a big fan of oatmeal. I use to say that oatmeal is the most constant meal in my diet. Very rarely I don’t have oatmeal for one of the meals. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, pre or post worout, oatmeal is one of those foods that makes me happy.

Supercookies

What should you eat before training?
The logic answer should be – food. Yes, food. If you have bananas at home, why should you be eating that store bought energy bar? It is most likely loaded with highly processed products. It is true that energy bars and cookies, such asThe Complete Cookie are very tasty and can be very handy. I also like the flavor, but that’s not the point. It is just much healthier to eat bananas and peanut butter, for example. In very rare cases, eating processed food will be healthier than eating whole food.

Simple Spicy Granola

You would give me a box of cereals and I would become a dangerous child. I think I would always eat almost half a box at once. Maybe that’s why I became a chubby kid. There were some cereals that were almost prohibited at home. Me and a box of Cocoa Krispies was a recipe for disaster. The thing is the f*ckin cereals would shrink and vanish in the hot milk. It would just lose all it’s crunbox-cereal-lucky-charmschiness in seconds. And of course I would add some more in the milk. It was impossible not eat more than half a box every time.
