Chocolate and Hazelnut Brownie

It is very important to state two things:

This recipe will not have exactly the same result as a tradicional brownie recipe;
This recipe doesn’t taste, NOT EVEN A LITTLE, like beans;
The big secret for this recipe are actually the beans. They’re what will give structure to the cake. But don’t worry, you won’t even notice it. Besides the neutral flavor, it will give an awesome nutritional profile to this recipe. Loads of protein, for the people worried about it.

The main goal with this recipe, just like all the others I bring to you here on the blog, is the remaking of a traditional recipe in a healthier way.

I could be making a 100% vegetarian brownie loaded with margerine, coconut oil and melted chocolate. That would be easy. More than easy, I know that would bring me more readers, because that’s exactly what everybody likes to eat. But when I started The Real Green Scene, I started it with a goal. More than a goal, a mission – to show the world that healthy food doesn’t have to be boring or tasteless!

Supercookies

What should you eat before training?
The logic answer should be – food. Yes, food. If you have bananas at home, why should you be eating that store bought energy bar? It is most likely loaded with highly processed products. It is true that energy bars and cookies, such asThe Complete Cookie are very tasty and can be very handy. I also like the flavor, but that’s not the point. It is just much healthier to eat bananas and peanut butter, for example. In very rare cases, eating processed food will be healthier than eating whole food.

Portuguese Bolo-rei

So? Do you still have those extra candied fruit boxes you bought last Christmas? Because THIS Christmas you would make bolo-rei right? And actually when you came back from the grocery store you realized that you still had candied fruit from the Christmas before that. And actually you have no f*ckin’ ideia of what the heck am I talking about because you’re not portuguese and you don’t even know what bolo-rei is right? Or if you,re portuguese and you’re reading this post in english… well… you may be stupid… I don’t know… but there is a portuguese version for every post. Moving on, are you familiarized with german stollen, italian panettone, or english christmas pudding? Bolo-rei is just like that, but much better because it’s portuguese. You didn’t know everything is better in Portugal? What an idiot…

Seitan, mushrooms and port wine

I promised I would post more Christmas recipes. I always keep my promises. But I’m portuguese. And of course I’m late as f*ck. Anyways, this blog was never about fancy food. I have always tried to share simple, handy and easy recipes. Tasty but healthy food, that does not demmand much technical knowledge, made out of cheap and easy to find products. That has always been my goal with this project. But every once in a while it’s nice to eat something a bit more complex. Something that says “I’m such a f*ckin good chef!”. I hope I’m still on time to inspire someone to inspire someone else.

Nutella – Choco Hazelnut Spread

This recipe doesn’t taste like nutella. Even I can guarantee you that. It’s not as creamy or sweet. But it is quite tasty and MUCH healthier. Still not something I would recommend eating with a spoon, specially if you’re looking for losing some weight. But, compared with the original product, it is super healthy indeed. If you enjoy the taste of pure roasted hazelnuts, you will love this. Besides, homemade is always better right?

Nut Butters

Bread with butter. Who doesn’t like it? I used to love it. As I said over and over again, I’ve always been a kid of very humble tastes. A nice slice of rustic bread with a generous portion of butter paired with a bunch of grapes was certainly one of my favorite snacks. Moreover, as the story goes, that fella ran away from home with nothing but a slice of bread with butter and a bunch of grapes. I believe he made it through.
