Bagels

I’ve been looking for some sort of whole grain flour based bagels for a long time and I couldn’t find it in any groceries shop. I find gluten-free bagels everywhere, but what’s the point on buying a product made out of even more refined flours than regular bread flour? Of course it is important to have these alternatives avaiable. I’m sure people who suffer from celiac disease or gluten intolerance are very thankful for that, but the truth is that, normally, the final product is still quite unhealthy. Very rarely you’ll find a gluten-free product that is not made out if highly processed flours.
Well, here, at the house, we have no gluten issues and so, gluten-free bagels will have to wait. Specially because I don’t have much experience with gluten-free breads and whole wheat recipes are already complicated enough.

Some sort of Milk Bread

First time I had a hot dog served in a hot dog bun was when I joined 5th grade. There, in my school, they used to serve timg00006142he hot dog with that american style bun that looks like milk bread. I clearly remember the first time I tried it – it was disgusting. Sweet bread with a sausage, ketchup and mostard? WTF??? The few times I had a hot dog before that it was on a baguete or in a papo-seco (a typical portuguese bun).

Arakas me Aginares – Peas with Artichokes

Anyways, all my favorite dishes used to have one thing in common – animal protein. Yes, I am not vegan because I used to like fish or meat less than you. And no, I don’t miss it, whatever that means. But even though all the animal products had been cut out of my diet, my fascination with certain products has continued. I still love stews with beans, cabbage and sweet potato, I still like to eat my chickpeas even without any codfish and I still the biggest fan of peas. About the sardines, well, they can keep doing their thing.

Awkward hummus sandwich

Well, so here is the thing – this week I was abandoned home. Joana is in a work trip and I am a miserable unemployed man. I really like to cook, but I hate cooking for myself. So this week’s video was, of course, a sandwich. And it was filmed without a camara-man (camara-woman in my case). Just like that. Like a boss. Still, the sandwich happened to be better than I expected.
