Portuguese Bolo-rei

So? Do you still have those extra candied fruit boxes you bought last Christmas? Because THIS Christmas you would make bolo-rei right? And actually when you came back from the grocery store you realized that you still had candied fruit from the Christmas before that. And actually you have no f*ckin’ ideia of what the heck am I talking about because you’re not portuguese and you don’t even know what bolo-rei is right? Or if you,re portuguese and you’re reading this post in english… well… you may be stupid… I don’t know… but there is a portuguese version for every post. Christmas Chickpea Cookies

I’ve always been a huge Christmas entusiast. I don’t know when it started and I can’t even remember caring that much about the presents I would get when I was a kid. The few times I had a hot dog before that it was on a baguete or in a papo-seco (a typical portuguese bun).

I don’t get outraged because we have brasilian players representing our national football team. Even less I see representing the national football team as the ultimate act of patriotism. I am portuguese because I was born in Portugal. I could be anything else. But, as any other portuguese, my own tastes were shaped during my childhood. Specially when it comes to food.

No man. I’m sorry. I can’t. I tried carrot cake with cream cheese frosting many times. Vegan and non-vegan (Yes, I was not born vegan. Surprise, surprise). I’m not saying it’s bad. It is quite nice. But carrot cake is with chocolate frosting.

Almond-Toffee Popcorn

I always loved going to the movies. Always loved movies. Cinema in general. I just don’t consider myself a cinephile because that title reminds me kind of a connection between sexual intercourse and cinema. I would go to the movies pretty much every week during my youth. And that started when I was a kid. […]
